WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR BOWLS SKILLS?

Free Coaching Sessions

We are looking at introducing free coaching sessions for members who want to improve their game and playing experience.

Why introduce coaching sessions?

  • To enhance your playing experience making it a more enjoyable event.

  • To improve your playing skills, ability and knowledge.

  • To give you confidence and ability to play in internal club leagues, competitions.

  • To give you confidence to represent the Club in the various external leagues and national competitions.

  • To give you confidence to better interact with your team members.

  • To improve your chances to win matches.

  • To raise Club bowls standard and competitiveness.

What will the coaching sessions cover?

Initial sessions will cover bowling basics such as your grip, stance, delivery, aim, weight and line. Bowl both forehand and backhand.

In due course and based on demand more advanced lessons such how to ‘read the head’, understanding team positions and roles within rinks, triples or doubles teams, guidance how to advise fellow team members.

Who will run the coaching sessions?

The sessions will be run/led by very experienced White Oak members. The type and number of Coaches required will be determined by the Club.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your current level of skill and ability. Your assigned Coach will discuss and assess your needs with you and agree a coaching schedule. There is no time limit.

When will the coaching sessions start?

This will depend on the response we get from members that sign-up for the sessions.

Once we know how many members want coaching we will publish a schedule detailing the members names, Coach names and the coaching dates and times. You will be contacted about your coaching sessions.

How much will the coaching cost?

Free to members. You pay a rink fee.

Will coaching sessions be individually or group based?

Sessions may be individual or group depending on members’ coaching needs and the Coach/member availability on the pre-set coaching days.

What day(s) and time will the coaching sessions run on?

This will initially depend on the member uptake which is necessary to determine rinks needed and availability. We will ensure the sessions do not interfere with our leagues, competitions and National matches.

We would expect members seeking coaching to be flexible on the session dates and times assigned by the Club.

How to join up? What do I do next?

Keep an eye on Reception for the entry forms
